Many girls on New Years Eve will don beautiful sparkly dresses to go out. Now, I love a sparkly dress, but I don’t see the point of buying one for a single night of the year. My budget this year didn’t allow it anyway. I wanted an outfit that I could wear over and over again.

Introducing my New Years Eve outfit. I always thought the point of dressing up New Years Eve was to come into the new year strong. And what outfit is stronger than a power suit?

I start simply with a white shirt: a classic staple that will definitely get worn a lot. This one I got from Le Chateau and I even got it on sale! Gotta love those Boxing Week blowouts.

Next are the pants that I also got on sale from TopShop. They’re cigarette trousers and have a print on them so the outfit is a little less “office” and a little more “party”.

To tie it all together (literally) I wore a thin black scarf (or a thick ribbon, depending on how you look at it) and tied it in a bow for a feminine touch. This added the touch of something different for the outfit and brought the black from the trousers up so that the whole outfit worked.

I didn’t have shoes for the picture and I didn’t need shoes for the party I went to either because it was at someone’s house. However, of the shoes I own, I would have gone with my black oxfords. If I’d gotten new shoes for the night, I would definitely have loved to wear shiny silver oxfords. It’s hard to resist something that shines for New Years!

So either way, I love oxfords for the outfit. Loafers would have done nicely as well. For my makeup I used the flower print from the trousers as inspiration with peach eyeshadow and navy blue eyeliner. I kept jewellery to a minimum because I think the outfit speaks well enough for itself.

What do you think? Would you wear it? Is there anything you would change? Let me know in the comments below!
