This haul is a collection of makeup I’ve accrued since Christmas. Some were gifts, some I bought for myself. Some I love, some not so much.

NARS Concealer

This was just a replacement of my emptied one. I’ve tried other concealers but always end up coming back to this.

NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Black

My sister got me some dark liquid lipstick for Christmas (see Kylie Jenner Lip Kit below) and when she was explaining how she chose the colour she said, “I just got the darkest one. Every time I see you, your lipstick gets closer and closer to black.” Which made me think, “Hmmmmm. Black…” And then I got this and am wearing it right now.

It goes on smoothly and feels good. The staying power isn’t infallible, and being black is a bit more noticeable than other colours, but the price more than justifies it.

ELF Eyelash/Eyebrow Brush

I was using the brush end of my broken ELF brow pencil every day. This was a dollar, and I knew I’d use it a lot. Worth it.

Mint & Daisy Lip Scrub in Sweet Dreams

Mint & Daisy is a local company that uses all-natural ingredients. I wanted a lip scrub that was good enough for the Canadian winter. In the past I used plain and simple sugar, but found it to be a bit rough as a lip scrub. I got this hoping it would be gentler, but was disappointed. It’s basically oils and fragrances mixed with sugar and has about the same effectiveness as plain sugar. Will not be buying again.

ELF Daily Brush Cleaner

My Sephora one was nearly out and I found this for cheap.

ELF Brush Shampoo

Sorely needed by all my brushes. Also cheap.

ELF Brush Cleaning Pad

It was on sale so I got it to use the shampoo on. Not sure if it was needed but I’ll use it.

Kylie Jenner Lip Kit in Leo

This is the lip liner and liquid lipstick in the colour Leo (DiCaprio I guess?) which is a deep red, my sister’s Christmas gift to me. She was going on about the brand name and how you’ve got to special-order it in order to get it in Canada. I love the colour. That doesn’t change the fact that this kit is not worth it. The lip liner lid doesn’t stay on without the help of gravity, so it’s pretty pointless and you absolutely cannot put it in your bag. The liquid lipstick doesn’t last long and feels cheap and sticky. It doesn’t go on smoothly or consistently and dries in patches, no matter how careful you are. There isn’t any staying power. Nope. Do not buy.

Bare Minerals Lipstick in Love

I first came across this lipstick in Montreal that was pigmented and smooth and moisturizing all put together. The colour was absolutely beautiful and perfect from spring to fall. I didn’t get it because I was already doing a lot of spending then, but I remembered it and it stuck with me. I kept finding it every time I entered a Sephora and trying it out, until finally I had a gift card one day and just went for it. It was everything I hoped and as soon as it gets a little warmer, I’ll probably be wearing it out and about.
