Lake Minnewanka

As I worked on the pitch for my web series, I realized that even though I’d put my novel writing on hold, I didn’t want to give up the story entirely. It wasn’t going to be as easy to pick my novel back up as it was to put down. A story has peaks and valleys; I’d stopped in a valley and it was difficult to find the momentum to reach the next peak from there. So I turned to research, where I always turn when I want to get my head into the story without actually writing. However, on this occasion, Google wasn’t enough.

I needed the mountains.

An Edmonton Overnighter

I recently got my first booking through my agent since signing with her a year and a half ago. I’ve gotten a few callbacks before, and I’ve been booking roles that haven’t been through my agent, but this was the first proper booking, so that was exciting. On top of that, it was in Edmonton.

From an Airport

I stopped writing for a while. Half because I got busy, half because, I don’t know. I stopped feeling like a writer.

I’m in an airport as I write this, but won’t be anymore when you read it. I’m on my way to Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam, where I will rendezvous with my mom, my sister Amy, and my brother Marvin. My flights were booked later and as a result, I’m travelling separately from them.

Montreal Day 6: Botanical Garden

Told you these would be all out of order.

I went to the Botanical Garden on Sunday, which I soon realized after arriving was a mistake because the line to get in was insanely long and by the time I reached the front, the garden would’ve closed. So instead of waiting in that crazy long line, I walked around the outside to a different entrance where the line up was way shorter and got in pretty quickly.

Montreal Day 4: Patisserie and History

Day 4 started, as is becoming a pattern, with food. I went to a cute patisserie called Maison Christian Faure and got their “Lunch Royal” which included a coffee or tea, the plat du jour, and a pastry. It was delicious, although a few of my table neighbours went for the salmon and I kind of want to go back to try it because it looked amazing.

Montreal Day 2: Barbie Expo

I set off about an hour later than I did on day one, due to yesterday’s post going up kind of…late? Early? Both?

Anyway, I didn’t have breakfast and reached Centre Ville around lunchtime, so I went to the second of three places I knew I wanted to eat at. I went to the bagel place on Day 1 and this day I went to a vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Old Town called Lov.
