Every so often, I’ll have an idea for a story. This has been happening since long before I wrote. The ideas usually come right before bed or as soon as I wake up. I think it’s because that’s when I’m not busy with everything that normally occupies my mind. Unfortunately, it’s been a while since I’ve had a new story idea, but I had one this morning.

Sometimes I forget that this is just a personal blog and I can write anything I want, no matter how pointless or personal it might seem. Sometimes I think everything I come up with should sound like it could be an article out of a magazine. As a result, when I don’t have something to that standard, I just don’t post, and the whole reason I started this blog was to start writing more. Sometimes I think a pointless post is unfair to you guys as my readers, but posting nothing at all is unfair to you all as well as myself. At the very least, I should be able to please myself.

Sometimes, I have school, work, something of a social life, a movie in pre-production, and a new story idea keeping me busy, and blogging doesn’t even occur to me.

School and work are a bigger and more highly occurring part of my life here than they were in England. In England I had four three-hour classes a week (three a week for my last year) and I worked an average of two or three shifts a week. Instead of nine hours of classes a week, I now have twenty, and it’s looking like I’ll be working four days a week on top of that, so you’ll have to forgive my terrible posting schedule.

But this morning, I had no classes or shifts, and I woke up with an idea so creepy and bizarre that I started writing right away. I’ve never really done creepy before. I’ve done adventure, romance, comedy, drama, but nothing that really gives people nightmares. I don’t know if I’m capable of giving people nightmares. (Side note: If you’ve ever had a nightmare after reading something I wrote, I’d love to know in the comments.) I like a challenge, but this is something else.

Another issue is that I only have a scene, a piece of the entire story—and I’m sure there’s enough for a novel if I dig deep. Still, it’s only the first day. Like most of my stories, this probably won’t get past five chapters. But if it does reach six, I’ll finish the whole thing.

Sooner or later.
